YoreDC is a virtual ‘time machine’ to the colorful days of historic Washington, DC. Visit neighborhoods of centuries past. Explore events and meet the people, known and unknown, who helped mold the District of Columbia into a world metropolis. YoreDC has amassed thousands of daguerreotypes, vintage photographs, archaic films, newspaper headlines, original manuscripts, and genealogies. We have published 50 original video short stories and mini-documentaries, with hundreds more in the backlog. Each is compelling. YoreDC follows the doctrine of fair use, the principle that originated in Anglo-American common law during the 18th and 19th centuries as a way of preventing copyright law from being too rigidly applied and “stifling the very creativity which [copyright] law is designed to foster.” Should copyrighted material be used inadvertently or without appropriate attribution, it will be removed immediately upon request. Moving forward, we intend to enlist additional journalists and historians to assist. As a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization, we depend on individual and corporate sponsorships. Donations and sponsorships are 100% tax-deductible! We hope our colorful stories and colorized images will help you see the Capital City the way your forebears did.
Our team consists of award-winning producers and writers for broadcast and educational networks with over thirty years of experience. We are delving through private and national archives to regularly update our library of unique stories from the past to share with our audience.
